Restoration Projects
Take a look at our:-
1948 Bentley Freestone and Webb- Part Two
There has been a staggering amount of work needed to restore this car; she finally made it to the painters in April. Even after all the repairs, it took Ian another five weeks of solid work to get her flat enough to paint!
She is back home now and looks superb in her new paint. We are pressing on with the interior fit out which has all had to be replaced. Not just the upholstery, but all the plywood and timber panels that form the foundation for the cars interior.
We have rebuilt the clutch and fitted a new clutch plate (a staggering £90 exchange!!); five new Firestone white-wall tyres left little change from £1000 and four new hub nuts were 'a snip' at £420!
Some of the parts prices beggar belief, especially when you consider that all these prices are trade. I just paid £20 for a 4 inch length of fuel pipe to connect the filler neck to the fuel tank (negotiated down from £35) and, whilst it is tempting to make do with something else, the car has to be 'right' or there is no point restoring it - it just devalues all the other work that has been done.
